Mountain Strong Service Lines

It Takes a Valley...

Mountain Strong is an Employee Assistance Program and Community Scholarship platform that connects those in need of therapy services with licensed behavioral health providers.

The Mountain Strong System

Connecting Patients to Providers.

Mountain Strong is a program and online platform that supports the behavioral health needs of those who currently work or live in both Eagle County, Colorado, and Summit County, Colorado. The Mountain Strong system connects those needing behavioral health services with one of our approved and licensed providers in our network to receive therapy sessions.

The system supports Employee Assistance Programs, Community Scholarships, and Peer Support. Learn more about our programs that make up Mountain Strong below. Be sure to also visit our How It Works pages to learn more on specifics for each service line specifically for: Patients, Providers, Employers, and Communities.

Overview

Employee Assistance Program

Vail Health and Eagle Valley Behavioral Health (EVBH) have launched a Behavioral Health Employee Assistance Program (EAP) called Mountain Strong.

Employees and their dependents are eligible to receive free behavioral health sessions with a dynamic and robust team of highly qualified and experienced behavioral health specialists under contract with the Mountain Strong program.

Get Started Now

Mountain Strong provides coverage for individuals, family and couples therapy, as well as for medication management services. The Mountain Strong EAP benefit does not cover inpatient services at this time. Appointments are available in-person, by telephone or virtually through telemedicine based on the needs and preference of the patient.

Mountain Strong ensures all providers are appropriately licensed, registered and insured. Qualified providers throughout the community and across the country are being recruited to participate in the EAP program. If you are already seeing a therapist or have a need for a provider outside of Eagle County, email EagleValleyBH@VailHealth.org and we will try to connect your provider to our network. If you find that the provider you are seeing is not a good fit, you can select another in-network provider at any time while utilizing your Mountain Strong employee benefit.

EVBH protects the confidential information of all employees and dependents utilizing the EAP program. No personally identifiable information is shared with your employer.

Mountain Strong can not ensure that all of our credentialed EAP providers are in-network with all employer insurance plans. However, several of our Mountain Strong clinicians do accept private insurance. The Mountain Strong Directory at www.eaglevalleybh.org/find-a-therapist lists the insurance plans accepted by each of our credentialed providers. If a patient would like to continue behavioral health services after utilizing their Mountain Strong employee benefit, they must select a provider who is in-network with their employer’s health insurance plan to ensure continuity of services.

Overview

Olivia's Fund Scholarship

Recognizing that financial barriers are one of the number one reasons that people in Eagle County do not seek treatment for behavioral health conditions, Vail Health Behavioral Health, or “VHBH,” has created The Olivia’s Fund Scholarship. This scholarship program provides financial assistance to anyone who lives or works in Eagle County to help pay for behaivioral health services for up to six sessions per person per year for anyone who faces a financial barrier to seeking behavioral health treatment that does not have insurance. If under 18, anyone in need can apply regardless of insurance.

It is important to note that this scholarship fund is unable to cover costs for medication or inpatient services at this time. The scholarship funds are provided by generous private donors and foundations who wish to support mental health and/or substance abuse services but recognize that many individuals cannot obtain those services because of financial barriers.

Olivia’s Fund will cover anyone in need of behavioral health services that does not have insurance coverage (with the exception of Medicaid beneficiaries, which is addressed below). If an applicant has insurance, and over the age of 18, VHBH will encourage them to work with their behavioral health provider to utilize their insurance plan and other payment sources, such as employee assistance programs, to maximize all available funding sources for treatment.

Applicants with Medicaid are not eligible for scholarships, as Medicaid will cover the full costs of behavioral health services. Medicaid applicants will be directed to seek services from the various providers who accept Medicaid as shown in the EVBH provider directory.

Applicants with Medicare and commercial insurance will be encouraged to seek services from the various providers who accept commercial insurance and Medicare as shown in the EVBH provider directory.

Scholarships will be provided for the following reasons:

  • The applicant does not have health insurance OR the applicant has a health insurance plan with a high deductible and/or copay.
  • There are no in-network providers in Eagle County who accept the applicant’s health insurance.
  • All of the in-network providers who accept the applicant’s insurance are not accepting new clients and the applicant must receive services from a provider who does not accept insurance.
  • The applicant has an existing relationship with a therapist who does not accept insurance (applicant has been seeing this provider for 4 or more sessions)
  • The applicant has demonstrated a need for specialty care from a provider who does not accept insurance.
  • The applicant has received services from providers who accept insurance and determined that these providers cannot meet their needs.

In order to be approved for a scholarship, the patient must agree to all of the following:

  • Attest that the applicant lives and/or works in Eagle County and they are facing a financial barrier to seeking behavioral health services in accordance with the financial barriers listed in the application.
  • Agree to the release of the patient’s personal information (information listed on the application) to EVBH through the application release of information.
  • Accept responsibility for identifying and scheduling appointments with the participating behavioral health provider of their choice. The scholarship program/EVBH does not schedule appointments for scholarship recipients or make referrals for any specific providers in the scholarship Provider Directory.
  • Agree to schedule their first session with a behavioral health provider within 30 days of being approved for a scholarship. The scholarship will expire after 30 days and the patient must reapply to the program.
  • Acknowledge that if the patient does not attend a scheduled appointment, the scholarship program will pay the provider for one “no show” session.  If the patient misses a second appointment, they will no longer be eligible for free sessions covered by the scholarship program.
